 ADOPT A TREE PROJECT

ADOPT A TREE PROJECT

When the Centenary Committee of St George’s Diocesan School started its planning, one of their guiding principles were to celebrate the school’s history and future plans.

From this, the idea to protect our school’s environment and the variety of wonderful historical and indigenous trees we have on our school grounds came to be. As our founding father, Bishop Nelson Fogarty, rightly chose the school’s first motto “For the betterment of mankind” we would like to adopt this motto for the Adopt a Tree Project.

The 100 Trees committee was created to kickstart this project. Our vision is to create an increased awareness as well as educational opportunities of the number and variety of historic and  indigenous trees surrounding our school.

What is the Adopt a Tree Project?

The 100 Trees Committee identified 100 trees on the school grounds which are up for adoption. The trees are numbered according to the years of the school’s existence, from 1919-2019. The trees are marked with red material and a poster: “ADOPT ME”, offering you the unique opportunity to adopt one of our trees for N$500.
