On Wednesday 26 February, the College had the honour of hosting its first Round Square online zoom postcard.
What is a Zoom Postcard?
A Zoom Postcard is an online event. It is a virtual meeting where students from different Round Square schools worldwide come together to discuss global issues and understand what is happening in the world.
Benefits of Social Media
The theme for this event was: The benefits of social media on today’s youth. Social media plays an important role in the lives of young people, from global connectivity to activism awareness and mental health support.
The students spent around four weeks researching the topic and making presentations and quizzes with discussion points. This helped our students get a firm understanding of the impact social media has on the youth, both in positive and negative ways, as well as how social media affects marketing and business.
Hosts and breakout rooms
We divided nineteen St George's hosts into pairs to work together. A pair presented their presentations in breakout rooms in each classroom, led the discussions, and ensured every participant was interested and engaged.
What we learned
Hosting and preparing for the postcard has taught our students a lot about understanding the importance of Round Square and research in developing strong presentations.
